Where in the room will safes be installed?
In most cases, safes will be installed in closets and secured to the floor or wall, similar to the set-up in many hotel rooms. For the student convenience, a pedestal might be used to accommodate varied closet sizes.
What happens when a student forgets their 4 digit unlock code?
The student can access CSI's website and CSI will provide the unlock code after the student supplies required security identification.
What happens if the safe malfunctions or is damaged?
Students can complete an on-line service request, or contact CSI via phone. CSI will arrange for any required repairs or maintenance or may just replace the safe.
Who else has access to student unlock code?
CSI will initially provide student with the unlock code and then CSI will encourage student to create his/her own code using the provided unlock code to open the safe. Once the safe is open, the code that is used to close the safe is the same code used to open the safe.
How do you activate the safes?
Simple steps involved…
-
Student goes online and sets up an account with security information
-
Student then reviews and accept on-line User agreement
-
Student then supplies billing information and then code is provided to activate Safe
-
Student then enters serial number on Safe to register that safe to their account
How is installation of the safes handled with the university?
CSI will coordinate safe installations with university facilities management which will most likely occur over the summer when the residence halls are empty. CSI will utilize approved third party contractors to initially install the safes. The safes feature pre-drilled holes that allow for ready installation and bolting to any structurally stable surfaces.
How much does CSI's service cost?
The safe rents for $95 for the full academic year. In the event a student moves to another room within the University that has a safe available, the student will receive credit from the safe in the original room.
What is the capacity and specifications of the CSI in-room safe?
The CSI safe is large enough to hold most laptops plus additional personal items. The safe's internal specifications are 19” wide x 13” deep x 8” wide. The fully motorized, battery operated safe features electronic operation with 2 locking bolts, a highly visible LED display, ADA-compliant keypad, electrostatic powder coat paint finish, and carpeted interior to protect your valuables and a shelf to separate your laptop from your other personal items. Four AA batteries are provided for power and will last longer than the academic year.
What does BATT-L mean?
BATT-L means the batteries are low. At this point you should change the batteries in the safe. The batteries are located on the inside of the safe on the back of the door. You will need a phillips screw driver to remove the screw and slide plastic plate to the left. Replace the 4 dead batteries with 4 new AA alkaline batteries. Slide the black plastic cover back in place and put the screw back in.
You may also check the status of the batteries by pressing the LOCK (#) button. If the displays reads BATT-H, then the battery status is OK.
